Custodial Gap Coverage Program Created

Facilities Management is pleased to announce the creation and implementation of the Custodial Gap Coverage crew effective Monday, June 17, 2019. In efforts to better service the needs of our customers, the Custodial Division will now support a small team of three custodians who will be able to handle urgent custodial issues from Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The reason why this is being implemented is because we are fulfilling a need that was identified to us by our customers.  Prior to this, there was no custodial support for the University between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., and thus emergent custodial issues had to be directed to members of the skilled trades for resolution.   This was not always the swiftest or most efficient way to handle these events. Moving forward, there will be custodial staffing available during this time period to respond to urgent requests.

The role of this position is to support issues such as floods, refilling custodial supply dispensers, spills, and other emergent situations that are called into the trouble call number. Non-urgent requests will be serviced during the regular operations. These employees will not be used to support events or regular overtime requests. Please plan accordingly and schedule additional custodial services if you’re hosting an event.
