Wallis Annenberg Stadium project completed under 30 days
Facilities Management Design & Project Management coordinated with multiple departments on a tight timeframe to complete the Wallis Annenberg Stadium Project. Nicolas Quinanilla served as the project manager and Ying Ling as the architect for the project. The timeline from preliminary concept to complete drawings and close out was completed under 30 days, with a focus on the grand opening event on August 17th, 2018. These bleachers are a robust but temporary solution until the soccer season is over and the permanent stadium can go under construction. As UCLA Athletics reports, the Bruins opened the stadium in dramatic fashion, downing visiting Long Beach State, 1-0 on a goal with two seconds left in regulation. The stadium, which seats 2,145, is located at the previously-named North Athletic Field, where the Bruins played selected home games from 1967-99, after which home games were moved to Drake Stadium. The new stadium was made possible thanks to a $5 million lead gift from the Annenberg Foundation.
