Exterior Pest Management

Landscape & Grounds is proud of enhancing the living and working conditions for the UCLA community in a timely manner, while informing and educating our customers.

The Shelly's Healthy School Act of 2000 (AB2260) protects children from all potential pesticide exposure. Facilities Management informs UCLA Lab School administrators, who in turn notify parents, teachers, and staff about potential pesticides to be used in and around the school.

We provide guidance on, and solutions to, pest problems while adopting environmentally-sensitive pest control programs. UCLA implemented the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach, which helps to limit the influence of pests on camps. It stresses an effective and environmental approach to pest management. For instance, by using comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment, we reduce pesticide use on campus.

IPM involves the use of natural and physical controls in any given pest situation. Chemicals are used only after all other methods have been exhausted. It is our mission to use the least toxic method available to solve a 'pesty' problem.

We handle only exterior pest control. For interior pest control, contact Josh Witt at EH&S at (310) 794-5399.
