“Teaching and Learning Center” Unveils A Fresh Look

powell

Located in the Powell Library, the Teaching and Learning Center (“Center”) serves as a study room for students, faculty and the UCLA community. With the space not having been upgraded in several years, Facilities Management stepped in for a striking transformation, which resulted in a room that greets occupants with a cleaner and inviting feel.

For four weeks, the Carpenter, Paint and Flooring shops collaborated in the transformation of the Center, with the upgrades specifically tailored for its needs. Since the built-in book cases were not in use, the Carpenter Shop framed them in with metal studs and added drywall to cover the shelves. This leaves the option of dismantling the walls, if needed. New simulated wood vinyl planks replaced the dark, worn-out carpet throughout the offices and the common area. The splash of silver-gray wood complemented the fresh coat of paint, which gives the impression of a more expansive space.

This project exemplifies the quality of work that Facilities Management provides to our clients. FM’s Flooring Team who completed this project consisted of Gerry Morales, Daniel Fregoso, Marco Gonzalez, Ramon Fregoso and Ramon Calderon.
